Rally Outside KDWB Over Hmong Parody Song

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A rally was held outside the studios of a popular morning radio show in the Twin Cities Friday morning.

A Rally Against Racism was held outside KDWB over a parody song that ran on the "Dave Ryan in the Morning Show" on March 22.

The song was called "30 Hmongs in a House," and was set to Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven." The lyrics talked about Hmong women getting pregnant by 16 and being over the hill by 30.

KDWB has issued an apology through Facebook for the song, but the station also added that it received some positive feedback from members of the Hmong community.

The radio station also issued a statement on Friday, saying "We fully support the rights under the First Amendment of individuals to gather together and to express their thoughts and opinions.

"The March 22 song segment in no way reflects the values and viewpoints of our station," the statement read. "We recognize that it was inappropriate, and we have unequivocally apologized."
