Judge Holds Hearing In Case Over 2006 Toyota Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Attorneys for Toyota are asking a federal judge to dismiss several claims filed by a Minnesota man incarcerated after a 2006 fatal crash involving a Camry.

U.S. District Judge Ann Montgomery says she'll take the requests under advisement.

Koua Fong Lee maintains he tried to stop his 1996 Camry before the crash that killed three people. He was freed from prison last year after reports about sudden acceleration problems in some Toyotas.

He sued Toyota, claiming he suffered distress from his incarceration.

Toyota attorneys say the accident was tragic, but many claims made by Lee and crash victims should be dismissed because too much time has passed. They also say the crash didn't directly cause Lee's incarceration.

Lee's attorney disagrees and is asking Montgomery to let the case go forward.
