Student Brings Knife To ROCORI Middle School

COLD SPRING, Minn. (WCCO) -- A student could be expelled for up to a year after bringing a knife to ROCORI Middle School Wednesday.

Superintendent Scott Staska said other students spotted the weapon and reported it to the principal, who secured the girl suspected of having the knife.

Staska said the knife was "an extended pocketknife."

No one was hurt in the incident and it does not appear that it was connected to a threat.

It is not clear how the girl will be punished, but Staska said the district will follow the state's weapon policy, which means she could be expelled for up to a year.

This is the second weapon-related incident at the school this month. The first occurred on April 12, when a student brought a gun to school and allegedly threatened another student with it.
