Woman Hit By Cab In Minneapolis Dies Of Her Injuries

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A woman who was hit by a cab while crossing the street with friends has died.

Tonia Sorenson, 38, was out for dinner in Uptown when it happened. The cab was turning north onto Hennepin Avenue from Lake Street when it ran into her and three other women.

The other three weren’t hurt, but Sorenson suffered critical head injuries.

On her CaringBridge website, Sorenson’s family says she now in a better place.

The cab driver stopped at the scene and police say they’re continuing to investigate.

Many of these posted comments are just ridiculous. This incident has nothing to do with whether or not someone is politically “liberal” or “conservative.” And based on the information provided, we have NO idea whether or not these women who were hit IN THE CROSSWALK were crossing legally or not. If it turns out they were, then the driver of the cab IS at fault. If the were crossing illegally, then it’s possible that the driver, while legally in the right, could have made the turn with the women in plain sight and easily avoided hitting them. The main point is, we DO NOT have enough information to be making ANY kind of judgments on this . . . .

Hey Cory I am sorry to hear about your friend. I am afraid some of the people forgot they were adults and went into Kindergarten mode. I will keep your friend in my prayers!

Why is what I said liberal? When it is probably true? And no, I would still think the same regardless of whether it was reversed as you just postulated.

Wow! I find many of these comments horribly offensive and inconsiderate. A woman has died! Can’t you all just give your condolences and keep the rest to yourself? I hope her family and friends don’t have to see this.
To her family and friends: I’m so sorry for your loss!

Everybody is entitled to their own opinions but if you want to argue over them, do it someplace else or more desirably, keep it to yourself.

You know it is sad with Easter just around the corner and all the hate. For goodness sakes people a women has lost her life in a tragic accident. There sure is no shortage of hate in our world looking at the comments and blame games and no I am not a liberal I am a conservative as a matter of fact that just happens to a human who cares about the loss of precious life I guess.

I know you all mean well, but STOP FEEDING THE TROLL.

So sorry for this loss of life. Condolences to the family.

Who gives any of you the right to judge. This is the second time I have witnessed how horrible people are on this site after a awful accident. Funny how people feel they have the right to comment not even taking the family and friends of the victim in consideration. WCCO should take this comment page off. It is just a place that many like to show their ignorance with out taking accountability for your opinions. Not one of you would say these things to someones face. My thoughts and prayers are with the Sorenson’s and Tonia’s many friends.
