Minn. Abuse Suspect: Woman Chose To Sleep In Cage

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A St. Paul man accused of locking a woman in a dog cage to prevent her from leaving him says she had crawled into the kennel on her own to sleep.

Twenty-nine-year-old Luke Brandon Scott testified Friday that he tried to reason with the woman but she asked to be left there.

Scott is charged with assault, false imprisonment and terroristic threats. The St. Paul Pioneer Press says closing arguments in his trial are expected Monday.

The 21-year-old woman testified earlier that Scott became violent when she told him she wanted to end their relationship.

She says Scott dragged her by the hair when she tried to get out the back door of his house and knocked out a tooth by smashing her face with a wine bottle.
