Man Charged In 2007 Murder Of Columbia Heights Woman

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Four years after a Columbia Heights woman was murdered, a 35-year-old man has been charged with her death.

Mo Savoy Hicks is in custody at the Anoka County Jail, after being charged with second-degree murder on Wednesday. Hicks is accused of killing 60-year-old Judy Lynn Rush and hiding her remains in Brookdale Park.

According to the charges, the Columbia Heights Police Department began an investigation into the disappearance of Rush on Aug. 22, 2007. At the time, Rush had been living at an apartment on 4634 Tyler St. NE.

Investigators discovered a large amount of blood inside Rush's apartment, but no body was ever found. A judge declared Rush dead on July 21, 2008 after concluding that the volume of blood found in her apartment and the blood spatter patterns indicated a homicide.

On April 8, remains were discovered a Brookdale Park in the city of Brooklyn Park. The remains were processed and identified as Rush.

Hicks was arrested on Monday.
