Dayton Says Minn. Vigilant After Bin Laden's Death

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton says state public safety officials are being extra watchful after an American force killed Osama bin Laden.

Dayton said Monday he has directed Public Safety Commissioner Ramona Dohman to "redouble our vigilance" in the next weeks to protect Minnesotans from any terrorist backlash.

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says there are no plans to raise the nation's terror alert.

Dayton is praising bin Laden's death as "great news" and congratulating President Barack Obama and the U.S. soldiers who carried out the attack. He says Minnesota National Guard members who have deployed in the fight against terrorism should also be proud.
