Minn. Delegation Reacts To Bin Laden's Death
MINNEAPOLIS (AP/WCCO) -- Minnesota's congressional delegation reacts to the death of Osama bin Laden by urging constituents to remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001 and to remain vigilant.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar says the killing of bin Laden "brings a measure of justice" for the families of those lost to terrorism, including Tom Burnett of Minnesota.
Congressman Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, says the death of Osama bin Laden marks the most significant accomplishment yet in the war against al-Qaida. He also says that people of all faiths can recognize that bin Laden was a "truly evil man."
Congressman Tim Walz says his thoughts are with the "brave men and women in uniform." U.S. Rep. Erik Paulsen says bin Laden's death "marks a significant achievement in the fight against terrorism."
Congressman John Kline says that while the world is free from "one truly evil man, we are still at war with Islamist extremists."
Congresswoman Betty McCollum said she has plenty of questions about bin Laden -- and Pakistan.
McCollum said she can't wait for next week's classified briefing in Washington.
"Because we're going to be asking some really hard and fast questions," said the Fourth District democrat in an interview with WCCO's John Williams.

McCollum said her questions will focus on bin Laden's ability to elude capture, most recently in a large compound outside a city in Pakistan.
"Who, in the Pakistan government or military, knew about his whereabouts and when? And what kind of assistance did he receive?" she said.
McCollum praised U.S. forces for keeping its plans private for several months, ending with a successful mission against the world's most wanted man.
