MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The NFL lockout, the Minnesota Wild head coaching search and the Twins health situation are all part of this week’s news and notes by Mike Max.


The Minnesota Vikings players have retreated back to groups and are working out in area health clubs and workout facilities.

One players that is familiar with the negotiations of the lockout told Max that he expects it to continue for at least another month.


There is no doubt the Wild would like to talk with Phoenix coach Dave Tippett about its head coaching vacancy, but he’s under contract. He will be in the area soon. His wife and her family are from here and they spend the summer in northern Minnesota. He’s a long shot.


New Jersey Nets assistant coach Sam Mitchell has been putting his resume together in case the Timberwolves fire coach Kurt Rambis, but don’t expect him to get strong consideration.


Ralph Sampson III may find out this weekend, at a pre-draft scrimmage for underclassmen, if he’s good enough to come out.


The Minnesota Twins have brought in a chiropractor that works with NFL players to help get try and remove some aches and pains.


One of the confusing parts of diagnosing Joe Mauer’s health might be that he’s had four different opinions from four different medical staffs.


Timberwolves general manager David Kahn, who is in Spain watching three players the wolves own the rights to, including Ricky Rubio, is expected to represent the team in New York for the draft lottery.
