MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — David Kahn is heading back to Spain as the Minnesota Timberwolves continue to wait to see if point guard Ricky Rubio will commit to playing in the NBA next season.

Kahn and assistant GM Tony Ronzone departed on Wednesday to scout the Euroleague Final Four. Rubio is not playing in the tournament, but is playing in the Spanish League.

Rubio has to exercise a $1 million buyout with Regal Barcelona and sign his current rookie deal by May 31 if he wants to avoid risk losing money with a new NBA collective bargaining agreement. The Timberwolves can contribute $500,000 toward that buyout.

Kahn and Ronzone also will be there to visit former draft picks Henk Norel, Nemanja Bjelica and Paolao Prestes.

Seriously, I have seen this movie before……the wolfies are going to try to excite fans with trying to lure someone they “think” will be the answer to their lingering issues……rubio may be a star in europe…..but when he steps on the floor in our NBA…..he may play, but there will be 300 other players in the league better than him……..I think we need to clean house at the top, and get back to bringing players in that will give us a chance to start winning again……32 wins out of the last 164 games is attrocious……..Glen…….get rid of the FAT.

Is it too much to ask to take the team with?

  3. AL says:

  6. Tom Osskopp says:

wow….. so much hate for a kid who is barely out of his teen years. Rubio has been playing pro and Olympic ball since he was 15…. he’s had u.s. Olympians like Kobe Bryant raving about his ball handling skills and decision making in the recent international play. as for averaging only 6 points a game over seas… Brandon Jennings who has turned out to be an electric point guard for the bucks went over seas after not getting into college and got lost in the shuffle and systems of the pro game over there, barely playing, and came back, and at times has shown all star potential. its true Rubio needs work on his 3 pt game, but lets be real, the kid would be a junior in college over here, and we would be raving over this kid…. if defensive studs like bryant are raving about his ball handling and overall game, especially playing him in a much more physical style of basketball in international play… what can this kid do when defenders playing under soft nba rules have to gaurd him. Rubio will never be a 25 pt a game scorer, but he will most likely end up being a better version of rajon rondo, and steve nash… he will allow guys like michael beasley and kevin love take their game to the next level. If hey plays here. lol.. he will get 10 assists a game in his sleep…. and hes not afraid to drive to the lane…. believe the hype…. or at least watch enough game film to actually bring facts to a debate instead of a stat line…

Who? Wait, we have a basketball team?

  8. Kahn is worthless says:

Kahn is a con. Look where KG is now when you surround him with a group of talent and team players. Hmmm, funny how that works out.
