Female Groped While Walking Home From School

NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- Authorities in New Brighton are investigating a report of a sexual assault that happened at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the area of West County Road H and Rainbow Lane. That area is on the New Brighton/Mounds View border.

Police say a woman reported that she was walking westbound, and an unknown male ran up from behind her and touched her inappropriately. The suspect then turned and ran in the opposite direction.

The victim described the suspect as about 5 feet, 9 inches to 5 feet, 11 inches tall and ranging in age from 20 to 29. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans at the time of the incident.

The victim was walking home from Irondale High School and wearing headphones, so she didn't hear the suspect approaching.

New Brighton Public Safet officials are also notifying officials with the Mounds View School District about the incident.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the New Brighton Department of Public Safety at (651) 288-4100.
