St. Cloud Man Sentenced For Bank Robbery

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 23-year-old St. Cloud man was sentenced to nearly six years in prison on Wednesday in Duluth Federal Court for robbing a TCF Bank last May.

Salamo Nam Rakotojoelinandrasana will spend 57 months in prison on one count of bank robbery. He was indicted on May 19, 2010 and pleaded guilty last November.

According to court documents, Rakotojoelinandrasana admitted to stealing more than $6,000 from a TCF Bank in St. Cloud on May 5, 2010.

According to case files, he entered the bank after 6:30 p.m. that day, displayed a weapon and demanded money. What he got was cash with a concealed bank dye, and he left the bank through the back door.

He was arrested on May 10, 2010, after being observed putting dye-stained money into slot machines at Mystic Lake Casino. Authorities executed a search warrant on his home and found clothing that matched what the robber was wearing. Police also found more than $2,300 in dye-stained cash and an air pistol in his car.
