Supreme Court Takes Arguments To High School

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Supreme Court traveled to a Twin Cities area high school Thursday to hear arguments.

The high court convened at Eden Prairie High School where more than 700 students watched oral arguments in a Winona County District Court case.

Chief Justice Lorie Gildea says the court's high school visits are an attempt to engage young people and encourage them to learn about their role in democracy.

The justices also answered students' questions on a wide variety of topics, then visited classrooms at the high school, Central Middle School and Oak Point Intermediate School.

The Supreme Court began convening oral arguments at schools in 1995.
