Edina Police Investigate 'Unusual' String Of Burglaries

By Esme Murphy, WCCO-TV

EDINA, Minn. (WCCO) -- Edina Police are asking for the public's help after a recent string of burglaries that could be related to similar cases in a couple other cities.

Police said three "unusual" forced-entry home burglaries occurred within the last five weeks, all during the day. In two of the cases, the suspect cut phone lines to the home and stole jewelry.

In the most recent incident, a female homeowner surprised the suspect in her home, prompting him to flee.

The suspect in the most recent case is described as a white man in his 40s with dark hair and a receding hairline. He fled the home in a brown sedan with a white woman in the front passenger seat.

Police believe the Edina burglaries are linked to similar cases in Plymouth, Minnetonka and Minneapolis.

"This is a top priority for us, and I hope that someone will come forward with something to help us find this guy, or group," said Edina Police Chief Jeff Long in a statement.

Anyone with information is asked to call Edina Police at 952-826-1600.
