Construction To Start In South Metro At I-35 Split

BURNSVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) -- Drivers in the south metro will want to pack patience for their drive to work starting Monday.

Minnesota Department of Transportation crews will begin a new project Monday morning on I-35W that stretches from the Burnsville Parkway to the I-35E split.

They'll be resurfacing the highway to make way for the new MnPASS and Smart Lane systems.

This is one of the busiest stretches of I-35 during rush hour and MnDOT says there will usually be two lanes open to traffic.

The project is slated to be completed this fall.
