Duplex Fire In Mpls. Ruled Arson

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Minneapolis Arson Unit said a fire that started at a duplex Tuesday was arson.

Fire crews were called to the house at 2314 Dupont Ave. N. around 5:11 p.m.

Firefighters said heavy fire and smoke were coming from the rear of the two-story duplex. When they went inside there was fire on the first and second floors and it was going into the attic.

More crews had to be called in to put it out because the building was so close to other homes.

The fire was able to be contained and didn’t spread to nearby buildings. There were no injuries.

When crews investigated the scene they found more than one point where the fire could have started and that’s what led them to believe it was started on purpose.

The Minneapolis Arson Unit asks anyone with information about the fire to call 800-723-2020.
