Texting Sex Questions Through Wis. Health Dept.

WAUSAU, Wis. (WCCO) -- Some parents and teens find it uncomfortable to talk about sex -- even when the questions are very important.

Now in Wisconsin, a county health department near Wausau is launching a new service for teens to get answers about sex.

Teens can text questions anonymously -- and receive answers from health professionals.

The health department said teens should go to their parents first with questions about sex. But if that doesn't happen it's better to get answers from a trained professional.

"We aren't going to send any responses if they ask technique of how to do something, things like that. We won't be responding to those at all," said Leah Meidl, of the Wood County Health Department.

The health department hopes the texting service will help cut down on STDs and the number of teen pregnancies.
