Northern Minn. Helicopter Crew Rescues 6 Missing Men

ISABELLA, Minn. (AP) -- A Hibbing helicopter crew has rescued six men who were lost in a swampy forest in northeastern Minnesota at night.

The men waved their cellphones in the air. The Life Link III helicopter crew was wearing night-vision goggles and could see the cellphone lights glowing in the dark.

The Duluth News Tribune reports the helicopter crew flew over the hikers to get GPS coordinates, radioed the location to rescuers on the ground and helped guide them.

The men were members of a tree-planting crew who got lost on Wednesday. Lake County Sheriff Carey Johnson says the men were rescued at 1:44 a.m. Thursday, and -- other than being cold -- were in good condition.
