Minn. House Set To Vote On Gay Marriage Amendment

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota House is expected to vote Saturday on a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.

House Speaker Kurt Zellers confirmed the plan as he left a budget meeting with Gov. Mark Dayton and legislative leaders.

House passage would be the final action required to put the marriage question on next year's ballot, ensuring that voters will decide the issue. They would be asked whether marriage should be confined to unions of one man and one woman.

The Senate already passed the measure.

Gov. Mark Dayton says the proposal is "un-Minnesotan" but he has no power to block it.
