Dayton: State Will Help Minneapolis After Tornado

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Gov. Mark Dayton and House Speaker Kurt Zellers say they're ready to help after a tornado killed one person and injured at least 29 others on a path that ripped through north Minneapolis.

The Democratic governor and top House Republican viewed the damage Monday with Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar and U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison.

Dayton says the state will do "everything possible" to support the city's recovery. He says he is prepared to consider a special legislative session to pass disaster relief.

Zellers says the Legislature stands ready to help.

The tornado followed a nearly five-mile path from St. Louis Park through north Minneapolis into Fridley.
