DWI Driver Sentenced To 51 Months In Jail

STILLWATER, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 38-year-old Mahtomedi man was sentenced to more than four years in jail in Washington County District Court on Tuesday for driving drunk during a crash last August that injured at least three teenagers and gave one victim traumatic facial injuries.

Edward Jaworski pleaded guilty to three counts of criminal vehicular operation, one count of gross misdemeanor DWI and one count of driving after cancellation back in March. He was charged Feb. 15. He will serve 51 months (four years and four months) in the Washington County Jail.

According to a criminal complaint, Jaworski was driving drunk when he hit four vehicles that were stopped at a stoplight on Valley Creek Road in Woodbury. Authorities said Jaworski was driving in excess of 80 miles per hour when he hit the first vehicle on Valley Creek Road in Woodbury at about 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 22, 2010.

Jaworski had been drinking at the Acapulco restaurant, and he registered a blood alcohol level of .24 after the crash.

Jaworski also has four prior alcohol-related driving offenses, two within the last 10 years. His license was previously revoked on April 19, 2001, and Aug. 1, 2010.
