MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — How the NHL draft might impact the Gopher hockey team? It’s all part of this week’s News and Notes.
There is some concern that Gopher recruit Seth Ambroz, who played in the USHL, could end up playing in a Canadian Junior League, depending on who takes him in the upcoming NHL draft.
While the Wild will talk to Houston Aeros Coach Mike Yeo about its head coaching vacancy, the word is, he’s a little young for
the current roster.
Former NHL veteran Shjon Podein, who could end up on the staff if Craig MacTavish gets the job, has accepted the head coaching job at St. Louis Park High School.
Blake Hoffarber worked out for the Wolves. He plans on an intense work out schedule going forward.
“I’m just going to go work out in Las Vegas for a couple weeks, three weeks and stay out there and work on my game at Impact Basketball out there. Hopefully can get some more workouts like this and see who takes me,” he said.
The key to the Gopher football team putting in new turf on their practice field is that it’s soft and durable. It’s also a replica of what they’ve got at TCF Bank Stadium, so it will stay consistent during a practice week.
Meanwhile, next door, they actually expect Siebert Field to be condemned this summer.
