Weather Blog: Unsettled Holiday Weather

By Ron Trenda, WCCO-TV

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Our Saturday will feature a cloud and sun mix, with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms developing at times this afternoon and evening. A few scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible on Sunday as well.

A warm front will push through late Sunday night and early on Memorial Day. The front could be accompanied by some showers and thunderstorms.

Monday afternoon will be steamy, with highs over much of southern and centralMinnesota and western Wisconsin expected to pop into the 80s. Another batch of showers and thunderstorms could develop Monday evening and overnight Monday night.

No all-day rains are expected this holiday weekend, but thunderstorms are possible at times, and a few could be severe. Be aware of which county you are in if you are traveling this weekend, because warnings are issued by county. Hope you enjoy this holiday weekend!

Fox 9 blocked me from asking them to get off the tele and move on. They must think that scaring folks about rain is newsworthy. Its a storm, happens alot in MN summers. Get rid of the weather guy. I can look out the window,

In response to the previous comments, the local news has every right to interrupt regular programming. Severe weather is a dangerous thing and many people don’t realize it’s severe until they look at the TV, so don’t be complaining to the local news stations. They are just trying to help keep people safe.

Just as an FYI, here is a bit of footage from the brief hail storm this afternoon in Apple Valley.

  6. Daniella says:

Really people?! If they had not warned you and you got caught in a severe weather situation, you would be pissed and sue somebody for failure to be notified in a sufficient amount of time. Severe weather is just that…..at any minute a small storm can change into something more serious. It is important to notiify the public and make sure they are aware of the possiblities. Let them do their job.
