WINONA, Minn. (AP) – An 82-year-old Winona woman has survived a fall from a three-story apartment window.

Police say the woman suffered unspecified injuries when she fell Tuesday morning. She was reportedly conscious but disoriented after she landed on several potted plants.

Kay Schafer is a first-floor resident at the apartment complex where the fall occurred. She tells the Winona Daily News she heard a “thud” outside her window about 10:30 a.m. She says she looked outside and saw the conscious woman lying on her side, covered in potting soil.

It wasn’t immediately clear how she fell. No further details on her condition were immediately available.
