Baxter Man Sentenced On 18 Child Porn Charges

BAXTER, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 53-year-old Baxter man was sentenced Thursday in Itasca County Court after pleading guilty to 18 felony counts of possession of child pornography.

Steven Ray Augustinack was sentenced to a five year prison term, but the sentence was stayed and he was placed on five years supervised probation. The conditions include 180 days in the Crow Wing County Jail, registering as a sex offender, completing a sex offender evaluation and following its terms and having no unsupervised contact with any female younger than 16 years old.

Augustinack was originally charged after it was found he possessed multiple files of child pornography on computers located in his Baxter residence, according to a criminal complaint. He was charged with 28 counts of possessing child porn and pleaded guilty to 18 counts.

Authorities found the images after executing a search warrant on his home on Aug. 4, 2010. They found the files on two computer towers and five external hard drives.
