Police: West Metro Burglar Strikes Again, 4 More Times

EDINA, Minn. (WCCO) -- Four more residential burglaries have occurred in west Edina, which police believe follow the pattern of three similar incidents in April and early May.

Police say the most recent burglaries occurred around the Memorial Day weekend and involved forced entry. In two incidents, outside wires were cut and in three, jewelry was taken from the home.

Two of the incidents occurred during the day or early evening when the homes were not occupied.

Police say they don't have any witnesses to the burglaries and no new suspect or vehicle information has been given. The investigation is ongoing.

Police Sergeant Brian Tholen said they think there may be two people hitting the homes, with one breaking in and another in a waiting car.

"Very brazen. We have not seen this type of activity in a long time," he said.

Edina Police have increased patrols in the affected areas and are reminding all residents to be alert for anything out of the ordinary, including people who may seem to be lost or confused.

Lauren Schuster is a "stay at home" mom, and said she is very worried.

"We are a little bit more cautious. We are a little bit more cautious about who is around we want to make sure we know who is having work done at their house, and when it is being done," she said.

Police said they are increasing the amount of marked and unmarked patrol in the area and would like to remind residents to be alert for anything out of the ordinary and call 911, if needed.
