Teen In Critical Condition After Crash In Maple Lake

MAPLE LAKE, Minn. (WCCO) – One teenager is in critical condition and three others suffered minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash in Maple Lake Friday afternoon, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The accident happened at about 3:14 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 55 and Division St.

Authorities said a 1998 Toyota Camry being driven by 17-year-old Aaron Carlson pulled out from a stop sign to cross Highway 55 and was broadsided by a 2006 Chevy K-15. That car was being driven by a 38-year-old woman and had passengers that were 15, 13 and 11 years old, police said.

Carlson's car veered into nearby water as a result of the crash, but was not submerged. Only the car's tires were under water. Carlson was taken to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.

Three people in the other car suffered minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation.

Maple Lake High School is just down the street from where the accident occurred and was having its last day of school, but officials there said they didn't believe any of their students were involved in the crash.

The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted by the Annandale Police Department and the Wright County Sheriff's Office.
