Pawlenty Taps W.H. Vet For Campaign Policy Panel

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- An Indiana businessman who led a White House economic panel during President George W. Bush's administration has thrown his support to Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty.

The Pawlenty campaign announced Friday that Al Hubbard would be chairman of the former Minnesota governor's national policy efforts. Hubbard was director of the National Economic Council in the Bush years and has close ties to Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, who gave serious consideration to a 2012 bid before deciding against running.

Hubbard also had a top job in the White House of President George H.W. Bush decades ago. He runs an Indianapolis-based acquisition company.
