ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (WCCO) — A window washer was killed after falling eight stories in St. Louis Park Friday afternoon.

Police said the man was working at Knollwood Place Apartments on the 3600 block of Phillips Parkway when he fell from the roof of the eight-story building.

St. Louis Park fire and police crews responded to the scene at about 2:15 p.m. When they arrived, the victim was already dead.

They said no one else was injured in the incident.

The identity of the man who fell has not been released, pending a report from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. He was an independent contractor who was working there most of the day.

The Hennepin County Crime lab and Medical Examiner are investigating how it happened and whether it was an equipment problem or operator error.
