Minn. Councilman To Be Deployed To Afghanistan

SARTELL, Minn. (AP) — Sartell City Councilman David Peterson is heading back overseas with the Minnesota Army National Guard.

Peterson, who’s a captain in the National Guard, says he’s being deployed for the second time in three years — this time to serve a seven-month stint in Afghanistan.

While he calls it “a stressful time” for his family, Peterson says you just have to make the situation “as positive as you possibly can.”

Peterson is an attorney and says he would be serving as a military JAG officer during his latest tour.

KNSI-AM reports he is scheduled to head for Afghanistan with other members of the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division on Aug. 1.

Peterson returned from a previous one-year stint with the Guard in Iraq in January 2010.

Why is this person getting a news story written about him?Is he someone special? What about all the men and women in uniform who serve every day,or all the national guard who are called up to serve?.He is no better than them.

He’s not even a working man. He won’t carry a weapon and won’t be contributing anything.
