Pawlenty Denies He Pulled Punches On Health Care

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Tim Pawlenty is denying he softened his criticism of former Gov. Mitt Romney’s health care policies in a nationally broadcast debate.

The former Minnesota governor tells CBS’s “The Early Show” that he kept up his attack on the Romney health care program for Massachusetts in the debate among seven Republicans competing for the party’s presidential nomination. On Sunday, Pawlenty had likened Romney’s health care to the one pushed through by President Barack Obama, calling it “Obamneycare.”

On Tuesday, Pawlenty said he didn’t try to soft-pedal the issue in debate. Pawlenty did tell CBS he used the “Obamneycare” reference again “when pressed by the moderator.” He repeated his charge that Obama used Massachusetts as “the blueprint” for the plan that he and fellow Democrats pushed through Congress.

These people were the best and brightest of what’s left of the republican party? Ron Paul was the only one with any credibility up there. William F Buckley Jr is turning over in his grave.
Also- American Idol or dancing with the stars? Pepsi or coke? Deep dish or thin crust? Sorry state of affairs.

who cares about deep dish, pepsi or coke or who’s winng a sporting event at the moment?Pawlenty already lost it when he started he said his campaign would run on truth, he can’t even look another candidate in the face and tell him what he said about him the day before? and Minnesota’s budget deficit being balanced? None of them had a plan of their own ,the best they could do was bad mouth Presaident Obama?? doesn’t tell us tax payers much out here except maybe who we don’t want our tax money to go to.

Pawlenty reports he didn’t pull punches but rather “My shoulders are still a little weak from when I dropped Minnesota into that ocean of hurt.” Later adding, “I’ll be in better form once that heals.” On a related note Pawlenty does still have vision problems from repeatedly having inserted his own head up the butts of Pat Robertson, Billy Graham, Doug Coe and one unspecified Koch brother. “That’s the real challenge here,” said a visibly blurry eyed Pawlenty, “you know, the vision thing.”

“Mary,” he added, “is so thrilled she’s only spoken in tongues for days.” We’re getting a little annoyed since she should be deflecting the lame stream media from inappropriate questions like, As President what would you do about the economy? Or what would be your policy in regards to the Two State Solution? Instead she just babbles, points heavenward and cries like crazy. Oh well,” he added, “she’ll get dehydrated eventually. I mean she has to stop someday right?”

You can find a complete chart of Pawlenty’s tax policy proposal for 2013 at the Tax Policy Center website run by the Urban Institute and Brookings Institution. From the chart in the “numbers” tab you can see that the taxpayers making $75,000 to $500,000 in income will pay the highest percentage of taxes while the wealthiest in the $500,000 and up will pay less. Those making over a million dollars a year will experience a windfall in tax money returned to them. This man is a ridiculous poser.

I work in Social services serving adults with developmental delays. Thanks to Pawlenty we have not had a cost of living increase in several years. I guess we want to pay for stadiums.

I had car repairs recently and this month that has hit hard. Now my gas tank is on empty and so is my refridgerator. I am living the dream. Pawlently’s dream. Only it’s more like a nightmare.

This was no debate, every question was only partially answered at best as each candidate went on at length about how they were the only one to do this or that, etc.

No moderator intervention telling them to please answer the question or we turn off your microphone is the only way to do it.

But yes, this collection of people that didn’t make the cut the last time or three are back, with a new cast of non-winners.

  • Don_J

Too bad the national media is too busy kissing his ass otherwise they’d be telling the rest of the country about how he butt-F’ed Minnesota before he left.

  • mike

Who cares who debated what on CNN, I did not watch the GOP debates. For one thing Pawlenty, you don’t have what it takes to lead a nation nor did you ever have any kind of charisma to ever govern Minnesota during your tenure either! So you really think have have a chance to run for president, huh, all you are about cutting jobs and throwing ordinary people out on the streets or put in jail. Bottom line there Pawlenty, you’ll never get elected as president.
