Athletes Gather For Star Of The North Games

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) -- Athletes from every corner of Minnesota will converge on the St. Cloud area over the next two weekends for the annual Star of the North Games.

Organizers expect 10,000 people will attend the games, including 5,000 participants. The event includes Olympic-style multi-sport games. The number of sports varies from year to year, usually between 18 and 24, including baseball, basketball, golf, gymnastics, volleyball and track and field.

Executive director Barclay Kruse says the event has a $1.8 million economic impact on the St. Cloud area.

WJON says it's the sixth time St. Cloud has hosted the Star of the North Games.
