Bus Stopped En Route To Mpls. Over Gun Threat
BECKER TOWNSHIP, Minn. (WCCO) -- A passenger bus headed to Minneapolis was stopped and evacuated after a passenger said he had been threatened by another passenger with a handgun.
Sherburne County officials said they responded to an emergency call Tuesday morning after a motorist spotted a passenger hanging out of the rear window.
The Jefferson Lines Motor coach bus slowed down in Becker Township, where the man jumped from the window. He said he was escaping from the bus after being threatened.
Authorities from the county sheriff's department, the State Patrol and the Becker Police Department investigated the scene, emptied the bus and looked for a firearm. They determined there had never been a threat.
The bus was reloaded and continued to Minneapolis, while the man caught hanging out of the rear window was taken to New River Medical Center for evaluation.
