Twin Cites Metro Under Tornado Watch Until 9:15

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) –  Severe weather appears to be starting up Tuesday afternoon near the Twin Cities metro area.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warnings for Dakota, Goodhue and Kandiyohi Counties just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday that was to last until 2:15 p.m. Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm just northwest of Cannon Falls that was capable of producing a tornado.

The storm was located near Hampton just before 2 p.m. and was headed northwest at 20 miles per hour. A funnel cloud was reported in Hampton at 1:56 p.m.

A tornado warning was also issued for Kandiyohi County. National Weather Service radar indicated a severe
thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. The dangerous storm was located near Blomkest, about 11 miles south of Willmar. The areas impacted include Willmar, Svea, Priam, Kandiyohi and Pennock.

The National Weather Service has also issued a tornado watch for the Twin Cities and surrounding areas until 9 p.m. Stay with WCCO-TV and wcco.com for the latest updates.
