Life Link CEO Arrested For Not Filing Taxes
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Life Link III CEO R. Carter McComb was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of not filing taxes, according to criminal charges filed Thursday in Hennepin County District Court.
Special agents with the Minnesota Department of Revenue executed a search warrant at Life Link's Minneapolis offices, and Minneapolis Police arrested McComb, according to Life Link II Chief Clinical Officer Rick Rambo.
McComb was charged Thursday with three felony counts of failure to file taxes and three felony counts of failure to pay taxes. He is currently in the Hennepin County Jail on $250,000 bail.
McComb is an independent business consultant and has been the interim CEO of Life Link III since May of 2007. In its search warrant, the Department of Revenue seized documents related to McComb's residency and past tax inquiries.
According to a criminal complaint, McComb knowingly failed to file income tax returns from 2007 to 2009.
As CEO of Life Link III, McComb reportedly made $110,630 in 2007, $224,640 in 2008 and $268,680 in 2009. He also received consulting payments of $7,744 in 2007, $40,477 in 2008 and $41,099 in 2009.
McComb claims residency in Florda, which does not assess personal income tax, but has been a long-time resident of Minnesota and has not filed personal tax returns in Minnesota since 2002.
According to the criminal complaint, McComb owes the State of Minnesota close to $11,000 in taxes not yet paid.
Rambo said the arrest had nothing to do with Life Link III and that McComb had no financial interest in the company.
Life Link III is a company which provides ground and ambulance services throughout the upper Midwest.
