Driver Fleeing Police Crashes, Tasered, Then Arrested

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A man was Tasered by police after he led them on a car chase that ended in a ditch in Avon, Minn.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday a deputy saw a car swerving back and forth on County Road 9.

The deputy pulled over the driver, Andy Birosh, and said that he appeared under the influence.

The officer asked Birosh, 26, to get out of the vehicle, but instead he drove off.

The deputy and an Avon Police Officer pursued him on CR 9 -- reaching speeds of 70 mph.

Birosh then turned County Road 156, where the Avon Officer did a PIT maneuver and caused Birosh's car to go into a ditch.

Birosh tried to drive out of the ditch and that's when the deputy Tasered him and arrested him.

Birosh refused to be tested for alcohol intoxication. He was booked into the Stearns County Jail for fleeing a peace officer, DWI, refusal to take a test, open bottle and obstructing the legal process.
