MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Cass County police arrested a man early Sunday morning after finding a dead 22-year-old woman with a gunshot wound near Cass Lake.

Sheriff Tom Burch said that police responded to a report of a shooting at 3:16 a.m. After finding the dead woman, Leech Lake Tribal Police arrested 27 –year-old Ross Littlewolf of Cass Lake.

Littlewolf is currently being held in the Cass County Jail pending formal charges, police said.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until her family is notified. An autopsy is planned.

The incident is still under investigation.
