1 Arrested In Shooting Death Of 63-Year-Old Backus Man

PONTO TOWNSHIP, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 73-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the shooting death of a 63-year-old Backus man Tuesday morning, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Tom Burch says that Cass County authorities responded to a report of shooting in Ponto Township at 11:18 a.m. When they arrived, they discovered the victim dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

The 73-year-old man was taken into custody and is currently being held in the Cass County Detention Center pending formal charges.

Both names are being withheld pending notification of family members.

The investigation continues.
