WALKER, Minn. (AP) – Charges allege a northern Minnesota man broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home and fatally shot her in the bedroom where she was sleeping with her two children.
Twenty-seven-year-old Ross Littlewolf of Cass Lake is charged with second-degree murder. Prosecutors allege Littlewolf fired a shotgun blast through a sliding glass door to enter the Cass Lake home of 22-year-old Kandace Blaine Dunn and then apparently shot her in the head early Sunday.
Dunn was sharing a room with her two young children — one of whom is also Littlewolf’s child.
Littlewolf also faces two counts of assault for allegedly aiming a shotgun at a couple who were sleeping in another bedroom.
Leech Lake tribal police arrested Littlewolf a short time later. He remains in jail and will be assigned a public defender.
