Man Gets 18 Months In Assault Case

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – A 31-year-old St. Paul man will spend a little more than a year in jail after a Facebook post led police to arrest him on a domestic assault charge.

Reggie LeAndrew Hart was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Tuesday in Ramsey County District Court with credit for 110 days already served. He pleaded guilty to one count of felony domestic assault on April 21.

According to a criminal complaint, St. Paul Police responded to a report of a domestic assault at about 2:02 a.m. on March 11 on the 400 block of Mount Ida Street. Officers got a report from a Facebook message that Hart was beating his girlfriend and holding people hostage inside the residence.

The Facebook post was from the victim's son. Police received the address for the residence from a relative who lived across the street.

The victim's son told police the victim had gone out on the night of March 10, but Hart had tracked her down and forced her to come home. They had an argument and Hart proceeded to assault her. He also threatened to assault her the following day.

The victim's son managed to get a message about the incident on Facebook before Hart took everyone's cell phones away, and a person who saw the message contacted police.
