Tutor Fails To Show For Hearing On Sex Crime Case

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- An arrest warrant has been issued in St. Louis County for a former tutor convicted of having sex with a minor.

A district court judge issued the warrant Monday after 24-year-old Andrew Roggenkamp failed to show up for a probation violation hearing in Duluth. Roggenkamp was working as a tutor for Sylvan Learning Center in 2008 when the victim's mother said she found inappropriate messages sent by Roggenkamp to her 15-year-old daughter, who was his student. Sylvan fired the tutor. The sex crime happened later that year. Roggenkamp pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 days in jail and seven years' probation. A three-year prison term was stayed.

The Duluth News Tribune says Roggenkamp's attorney, Lynn Torgerson of Minneapolis, says she has been unable to contact her client for some time.
