Man Killed On Highway 169 Accident ID'd

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities identified a 21-year-old man who died Thursday after being hit by a car while he was attempting to crawl across Highway 169 in Mille Lacs County.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Adam Christopher Nayquonabe.

Authorities said he is a Native American male who was killed on Highway 169 in Kathio Township, which is located in Mille Lacs County. He was attempting to cross the highway when he was struck by a vehicle. The incident happened around 11:15 p.m. and he was transported to North Memorial Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about two hours later.

The Minnesota State Patrol and the Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office said the accident remains under investigation. They said they believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.
