Minn. Mixed-Martial-Arts Fighter Charged In Attack

APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (AP) -- A heavyweight mixed-martials-arts fighter from Apple Valley has been charged with assaulting his wife.

Thirty-year-old Brett "Da Grim" Rogers is charged with third-degree assault, domestic assault by strangulation and pattern of stalking conduct. His bail was set at $100,000.

He was arrested Thursday after a neighbor reported a disturbance. Investigators say Rogers told police his wife hit him during an argument and he hit her back.

The criminal complaint says police found the wife with a bloody face, missing tooth and lump above her eyebrow.

A telephone number for Rogers couldn't immediately be found Saturday.

Rogers is a 6-foot-4, 270-pound heavyweight fighter. The St. Paul Pioneer Press says he became well-known in 2008 for winning the first mixed-martial-arts match to air live on national television.
