Fahey Gets Life In Prison For Abducting, Assaulting Girl

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for abducting and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl delivering newspapers in Fairfax last May.

Matthew Fahey pleaded guilty in January to kidnapping, criminal sexual predatory conduct and first-degree criminal sexual conduct. A second count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct was dismissed.

After a motion was denied to withdraw his plea and request a psychological evaluation, Fahey was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison, with the possibility of parole.

Fahey was then sentenced to nearly 17 years in prison for the predatory conduct and kidnapping charge, which will be served concurrently with his sentence of 33 years in prison for the sexual conduct charge.

Fahey will get credit for the 14 months he has already served in prison. He was also ordered to pay restitution from prison wages.
