Minn. State Worker Pleads Guilty To Forging Checks

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A veteran clerical worker has pleaded guilty to 20 counts of offering forged checks made with information she obtained at her job at the state Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Prosecutors say 47-year-old Terri Lynn Brennan of St. Paul made copies of real checks that businesses sent in for fines, then used the information on them to create fake checks on her home computer.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports she entered the plea in Ramsey County on Tuesday. A plea agreement calls for a year in jail and a stayed prison sentence of about four years.

The criminal complaint lists 29 checks worth $17,700.

Brennan's attorney told Judge Joanne Smith that Brennan got involved in the scheme to pay for her methamphetamine addiction but is now clean.
