Polk County Drowning Victim Identified

LUCK, Wis. (AP) — Authorities are identifying the St. Paul man who died in a boating accident in Polk County, Wis., over the weekend. The sheriff’s office says he’s 22-year-old Devin L. Smith.

WEAU-TV reports the accident happened around 3 a.m. Sunday on Antler Lake, just outside of Luck.

Deputies say Smith and four friends were boating when their 12-foot boat capsized. Smith went under as he swam to safety. His friends pulled him to shore and tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
