Klobuchar Tallies Hefty Reelection Bank Balance

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Democratic U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar has a hefty $3.3 million in the bank for her reelection effort next year.

Klobuchar's campaign released her fundraising report Tuesday for the second quarter of 2011. The campaign says she raised about $1.1 million during April, May and June for a total bank balance of $3.3 million.

Klobuchar is running for a second term next year after racking up 58 percent of the vote in 2006 against Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Kennedy. The former Hennepin County prosecutor serves on Senate committees on the judiciary, commerce and agriculture and a joint House-Senate panel on the economy. In addition she leads a subcommittee on innovation and exports.

The only Republican to say he'll run against Klobuchar so far is Dan Severson, a former state representative.
