Body In Mississippi River Was Missing Swimmer

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- St. Paul police have identified a body found in the Mississippi River as that of a missing swimmer.

The body of 22-year-old Sengleng Alexander Xiong of Minneapolis was found Tuesday near barges south of the Robert Street bridge.

Sengleng Xiong was swimming in the river with friends near Raspberry Island when he was swept away by the current late Saturday.

His sister tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press that Sengleng Xiong was a student at Minneapolis Community and Technical College.

The family is inviting the public to a memorial service Sunday, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., at Raspberry Island.
