RICHFIELD, Minn. (WCCO) — A man is in custody after being accused of stabbing a woman in Richfield.

Police responded to the scene Sunday morning around 8:15 a.m. at the Crossroads Apartments on the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South. A woman was found in the apartment building with stab wounds to her arm and hand by an unknown man.

The woman was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center and is said to be doing well. Police say a man is in custody, though the investigation continues. The man’s name is not being released at this time.

Authorities say the man and the woman did not know each other and this was a random stabbing. They are working to investigate a motive.

It is not clear if the man or woman or both live in the apartment complex.
