ST. PAUL (WCCO) — The polar bears at Como Zoo are feeling the heat, but don’t seem to mind.
“Today we are giving them some popsicles, made out of fruit loops,” said zookeeper Sara Halverson.
Halverson said that polar bears in the wild experience temperatures in the 80s and 90s, and are adapted to it.
“They lose their blubber and we lower their diet and they stay inactive,” she said.

However, Halverson said they do spoil the polar bears a bit, giving them access conditioning and a cool pool.
“Last night, we made up a bunch of ice treats,” she said.
Halverson said we could learn a lesson from them, and just chill out and eat popsicles.
